JACKSON, Miss. — An off-duty Mississippi firefighter was shot multiple times following a car crash and is now in critical condition, authorities say.
Jackson Firefighter Otto “OJ” Love Jr., 47, was shot Sunday night after a “fender bender,” according to WAPT.
He underwent surgery overnight at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, the Clarion Ledger reported.
Assistant Fire Chief Patrick Armon told the Clarion Ledger that he heard “a lot of positive things” since Love got out of surgery at 1 a.m. Monday, but that he remains in critical condition.
Police arrested Joshua Bingham, 21, in the shooting.
