CLIFTON, N.J. — A New Jersey State Police helicopter had to be called to rescue Clifton firefighters after their boat went over Dundee Falls during an earlier rescue.
Three firefighters were attempting to rescue three construction workers whose boat had stalled out on the river on June 28, News12 reported. Clifton Fire Chief Frank Prezioso said that at some point after the rescue of the construction workers, the firefighters’ boat got caught in the current and went over the falls.
Two firefighters were able to get off the before it went over and the third stayed in the boat as it went over the falls.
The police helicopter rescued each firefighter and none were seriously injured.
