CENTERVILLE, Texas — A firefighter who was hit by an 18-wheeler while responding to an accident on Interstate 45 is home from the hospital after undergoing a partial leg amputation.
Members of the Centerville Volunteer Fire Department were responding to a crash on June 6 when the 18-wheeler crashed into both vehicles from the previous accident, injuring two firefighters and killing the driver.
Firefighters Colton Adams, 21, and Clint Franklin, 46, were transported. Franklin was released.
Adams had to have surgery in Temple.
He returned home to a warm welcome Saturday, KBTX reported.
A fund for Adams has been set up at Community National Bank and Trust of Texas.
