MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. — A Philadelphia man was arrested Sunday night after breaking into and vandalizing a Martin County, Florida, fire station, then assaulting firefighters.
Edward Dalasandro, 25, reportedly broke into the station around 10 p.m., ransacked the bunk rooms, urinated on the carpet, and stole $126, a uniform hat and some knives. Firefighters confronted Dalasandro, who threw a meat cleaver at them, and kept him contained until police officers arrived. He has since been charged with armed burglary, aggravated assault on a firefighter and petty theft.
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office wrote of Dalasandro, who was wearing a Philadelphia Eagles T-shirt at the time of his arrest: “Eagles fan gets wings clipped … He was taken to the Martin County Jail, where the eagle was officially grounded for the second time in one night” – a reference to the Eagles’ Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs earlier that night.
