HARTFORD, Conn. — Nearly 100 people have been relocated following a fire at an apartment building in Hartford over the weekend that displaced numerous families.

The blaze was reported Saturday at 11:43 a.m. at an apartment complex 105 Sherbrooke Ave., where crews found a fire on the fourth floor, according to the Hartford Fire Department.

Firefighters quickly put out the fire and contained it to the apartment where it started.

According to fire officials, no injuries were reported.

The fire department’s Special Services Unit worked with the American Red Cross as well as the city’s Health and Human Services to relocate 51 families, including 80 adults and 19 children, fire officials said. Another 19 families were not home when the blaze broke out and have not yet been processed for relocation, officials said Monday.

Of the 128 units in the apartment building, 70 required relocation.

The fire remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office in Hartford.
