CLOVIS, Calif. — A pilot is in the hospital Saturday night after crashing in the Sierra National Forest.

SNF spokesman Will McCullough said the crash involving a Calfire helicopter happened at 1:45 p.m., near the Teakettle Experimental Forest while working on the Tea Fire in the High Sierra District.

Skylife and emergency personnel arrived at the scene and took the pilot to the hospital.

The pilot’s condition is unknown.

The National Transportation Safety Board was notified of the incident and is under investigation.

McCullough said Calfire and SNF personnel are coordinating local response.
