KIHEI, Hawaii — The family of Maui firefighter Tre Evans-Dumaran said he has shown signs of recovery, KITV4 reported Thursday.
He was swept into a storm drain and started to drown on Jan. 27.
The firefighter is on a ventilator, but he moved a foot, opened his eyes, and gave a thumbs up on Thursday, they say.
His family set up a GoFundMe account this week. Donors have gone far beyond the goal of $10,000 – over $100,000 has been raised.
