Calling all fire photographers: FireRescue1 wants to see your pictures! The next time you come across something inspiring, take out the camera and submit it to FireRescue1! Just remember to include your name, agency information and brief background information on the picture.

This week’s Photo of the Week comes from the CAL FIRE San Mateo-Santa Cruz Unit, highlighting how firefighters helped protect both the community and local populations of native California poppies on Earth Day.

Firefighters spent the day cutting down non-native Monterey pine trees that present a fire hazard and compete with the poppies and native grasses for water and nutrients. Fire Apparatus Engineer Kevin Beacham posed with the flowers, which are the official state flower of California.
