Calling all fire photographers: FireRescue1 wants to see your pictures! The next time you come across something inspiring, take out the camera and submit it to FireRescue1! Just remember to include your name, agency information and brief background information on the picture.

This week’s Photo of the Week is from the El Dorado County (California) Fire Protection District, showing the work of Station 19 firefighters, who put the finishing touches on a community book exchange “Little Free Library” near Station 19.

Firefighters planned, proposed and constructed this project as part of a shift professional development opportunity. Chief Marc Bashoor recently wrote about how firefighters can double-down on efforts to help members of the community – and this is a great example of firefighters going above and beyond.

The library will provide free honor-system access to books in the Pleasant Valley community. Little Free Libraries are scattered throughout El Dorado County and the rest of the world, seeking to inspire reading and foster community spirit at the same time.

Learn more about the project on the department’s Facebook page.
