MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis firefighter was killed in an off-duty car accident, officials said Sunday.
Lt. Brent McKinness, 41, died after a single-car accident in Arkansas Saturday afternoon, Memphis Fire Department Director Gina Sweat said.
Arkansas State Police said McKinness was killed when the vehicle he was driving on Interstate 555 in Poinsett County went off the roadway and overturned.
McKinness was visiting his parents, Sweat said.
“He was very passionate about his job,” she said. “He’ll be greatly missed.”
