Firefighter’s wife arrested, paid to have him killed

Lt. William Walker, 45, was shot several times in the chest outside his home on Nov. 3, 2013

CLEVELAND — The wife of slain Cleveland firefighter Lt. William Walker was taken into custody Tuesday after being charged with aggravated murder.

Court papers show that Uloma Walker-Curry, 44, hired several people to kill her husband, Cleveland.com reported.

Lt. Walker was ambushed outside his home on Nov. 3, 2013. He was shot several times in the chest before the gunman left in a car. Walker-Curry, who was home at the time, made a frantic 911 call seconds after her husband was shot.

Last month, prosecutors charged Chad Padgett, 21, with aggravated murder in connection with the case. Padgett was dating Walker’s stepdaughter at the time of the slaying and sent several text messages seeking a gun in the days leading up to the homicide.

Officials have not identified Padgett as the gunman, but he is being held on $1 million bail.

Walker-Curry is expected to be arraigned Thursday.
