Firefighters faced hoarding conditions inside the house, slowing the attack on the fire.
“We had to move very slowly because of the hoarding condition,” Deputy Chief Brian Tully said. “We were going inch to inch basically removing debris.”
A mayday was transmitted when a firefighter was briefly trapped on the roof as the fire spread. The firefighter was able to be safely removed by an aerial ladder, WCVB reported.
A woman who was inside the home at the time of the fire was able to escape safely. Three firefighters suffered minor injuries and were treated at a local hospital.
