If you don’t already have an energy storage system (ESS) in your district, it is just a matter of time.
Don’t wait until an incident occurs to prepare your members for this type of response.
UL’s Fire Safety Research Institute (FSRI) has turned its analysis of a deflagration incident at a lithium-ion battery ESS facility in Surprise, Arizona, into a free online training course for the fire service available via the Fire Safety Academy.
Through the “Fire Service Considerations with Lithium-Ion Battery ESS” online training, FSRI shares its analysis and recommendations to improve codes, standards and emergency response training to protect first responders, maintenance personnel and nearby communities.
As fire departments across the U.S. are coming together to “Take C.H.A.R.G.E. of Battery Fire Safety,” now is the time to equip your members and update standard operating guidelines and procedures (SOGs/SOPs) to prevent future incidents like this from occurring.
Take the course here.
