JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department are mourning the loss of a firefighter after he suffered a medical emergency while on duty.
Engineer Heath J. O’Shea died after suffering from a medical emergency at Fire Station 54 on April 12. Despite life-saving efforts made by fire department personnel and medical staff, O’Shea died at the hospital on Saturday morning, First Coast News reported.
“Losing someone and saying goodbye isn’t easy...but we will send you out with grace and dignity that you have earned and deserve,” the department posted on social media.

O’Shea had served the department for 20 years.
