FAIRVIEW, N.C. — A firefighter lost his life during a rescue operation amid Helene relief efforts, according to a social media post from the Charlotte Fire Department.
The department shared that they are grieving the loss of firefighter Tony Garrison, who served with both the Fairview and Garren Creek Fire Departments, WBTV reported.
In the post, it was stated that Garrison was attempting a rescue when a second landslide struck, killing him.
Garrison is the fourth firefighter to have died in the line of duty during Hurricane Helene.
