ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The Affton Fire Protection District announced the on-duty death of Fire Captain James Cova.
Cova was found unresponsive while on duty at the firehouse on July 9 after completing several emergency responses during his shift, First Alert 4 reported.
“Captain Cova was a true hero, committed to serving our community and his family,” Interim Fire Chief Aaron Rhodes said. “His loss is felt deeply by all of us.”
Cova, 54, was a member of the department for more than 23 years.
