BROCKTON, Mass. — A Brockton firefighter has died due to complications from a lung procedure, according to the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA).
Brockton Firefighter Jason Gould died on Sept. 8, USFA said.
The procedure Gould had was related to injuries he sustained during an apartment fire in 2016 when his mask became dislodged while rescuing a woman, causing him to inhale a significant amount of smoke.
After retiring in 2023, Gould received two lung transplants as a result of the severe lung damage he suffered.
