Ga. battalion chief killed in an explosion during vehicle fire

GREENE COUNTY, Ga. — Firefighters from Greene County are grieving the loss of one of their own, killed in an explosion during a vehicle fire.

Greene County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Chris Eddy was killed in the blast on Sept. 4, during a truck fire near Georgia Route 15 outside Greensboro, the Union-Recorder reported.

Condolences flooded social media as friends remembered Eddy, described as a respected veteran firefighter known for his serious dedication and lighthearted humor.

Eddy’s death is under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
