The International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) installed its newest officers on Thursday during Part 1 of the association’s Fire-Rescue International #VirtualFRI event.

Chief Richard Carrizzo is now the president of the IAFC, with Chief Ken Stuebing taking over as first vice president and Chief Donna Black now serving as second vice president.

The three officers were sworn in following a keynote address from U.S. Fire Administrator Keith Bryant.

A presidential celebration was held immediately afterward for outgoing IAFC President Chief Gary Ludwig, who also serves as a columnist and editorial advisory board member for FireRescue1.com and FireChief.com.

During his tenure as president of the IAFC, Chief Ludwig launched the campaign, “If you don’t feel well, don’t make it your farewell,” which focuses on reducing firefighter cardiac deaths.

The IAFC announced in early July that FRI would be a two-part series of events, focused on a virtual experience. In addition to the installation of officers, Part 1 of the new virtual event includes IAFC Board of Directors meetings and the annual business of the IAFC, plus division, section and committee meetings.

Part 2 of the #VirtualFRI event is the ReIGNITE Digital Conference, held Oct. 19–22, 2020.
