FireRescue1 announces expanded editorial advisory board

New members join diverse group of fire service leaders, providing editorial direction and serving as brand ambassadors

FRISCO, Texas — Lexipol’s FireRescue1, the leading online information and training resource for the fire and rescue community, is proud to announce the expansion of its editorial advisory board to help guide editorial priorities and grow its team of brand ambassadors.

The new board members include the following fire service leaders:

  • Dena Ali: Battalion Chief, Raleigh (NC) Fire Department
  • Rocco Alvaro: Battalion Chief, Fairfax County (VA) Fire & Rescue
  • Dr. Reginald Freeman: Chief Risk Officer, HAI Group
  • Dr. Sara Jahnke: Director and Senior Scientist, Center for Fire, Rescue & EMS Health Research at the National Development & Research Institute
  • Darryl Jones: Fire Chief, City of Pittsburgh (PA) Fire Bureau
  • John Oates: CEO, International Public Safety Data Institute
  • Tim Sendelbach: Fire Chief, Loveland (CO) Fire Rescue Authority
  • Dr. Jennifer Taylor: Director, Center for Firefighter Injury Research and Safety Trends (FIRST)
  • Josh Waldo: Fire Chief, Bozeman (MT) Fire Department

Headed by Executive Editor Marc Bashoor and Editor-in-Chief Janelle Foskett, the editorial advisory board works closely with FireRescue1 editors to ensure continued quality and a comprehensive library of content on the site.

“Chief Bashoor and I welcome this experienced group of fire service leaders to our editorial advisory board,” Foskett shared. “Having worked with these leaders over the years, we know their drive, dedication and passion for the betterment of the fire service as a common goal. We look forward to working with each of them as we continue to enhance our news efforts, training content and special coverage initiatives.”

“We know from the recent What Firefighters Want survey results that many firefighters find themselves at a tipping point in their career, unsure whether the love of the job is enough to stay in a position plagued by staffing challenges and high stress,” Bashoor explained. “Expanding the editorial advisory board is a critical step to reach more corners of our industry, with diverse insights into what firefighters want, so we can provide the key resources to be safe, successful, satisfied and secure in their positions.”
