Chilean firefighter’s GoPro video gains millions of views

The first-person view of a structure fire in Santiago was recognized in a GoPro awards program

SANTIAGO, Chile — A Chilean firefighter’s dramatic footage of a structure fire in Santiago has garnered international attention after being recognized as an award-winning video by GoPro.

Firefighter Joseth Abel Espinosa, a member of the Third Fire Company of Ñuñoa, captured the intense moment while operating the nozzle during a house fire in the city. The video, uploaded to YouTube on Nov. 8, has since amassed over 3 million views.

The footage was recognized as part of the GoPro Grom Quest award program, which encourages users to share captivating content for a chance to win prizes such as social media features, GoPro gear, and a spot on the GoPro Team.

Espinosa frequently shares firefighting content on his Instagram.

The Third Fire Company of Ñuñoa, part of the larger Fire Departments of Chile organization, serves the downtown Santiago area. The department actively documents its service and community efforts on Instagram and Facebook, further showcasing the dedication of its members to public safety.
