LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles City Fire Department Firefighter Dan Goen, who was seriously injured in a truck fire explosion on Feb. 15, was released from the Los Angeles General Medical Center.
Goen is the last of the nine firefighters injured in the explosion during a fire involving a semi-truck powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) and had two 100-gallon tanks, the fire department stated.
During the fire, one of the tanks exploded immediately, injuring nine firefighters. Some firefighters were thrown several feet away from their position.
“This incident serves as a reminder of the inherent dangers of the firefighting profession and the commitment your LAFD members have to place the safety of the public before their own,” Fire Chief Kristin Crowley said.
