INDIO, Calif. — Five California firefighters were injured when a flashover occurred at a house fire on Tuesday.
Four of the Indio firefighters were transported to JFK Memorial Hospital after the flashover and one was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, Calif., according to KESQ. One of the firefighters was in critical condition, another was in serious condition and three sustained moderate injuries.
One of the firefighters was released from the hospital later on Tuesday, according to CAL FIRE Riverside County.
The IAFF Burn Foundation was notified and has been activated to assist the injured firefighters, Indio firefighters said in an Instagram post.
Two residents of the home also sustained injuries that were not life-threatening, officials said.
