LOS ANGELES — A firefighter died Monday morning after he fell from an aerial ladder during a training exercise.
Los Angeles Times reported Kelly Wong, 29, was participating in a training exercise when he fell. He was immediately taken to a trauma hospital and was listed in critical condition.
“Despite the heroic efforts of doctors and nurses at the hospital, firefighter Wong succumbed to his injuries early Monday morning,” the Los Angeles Fire Department said in a statement.
Wong had been a firefighter for two years and graduated from the fire department’s academy in 2015 with top honors.
He leaves behind his wife and an infant son.
The fire department is investigating the incident.
