One of the hazards of cutting glass is the dust that is produced. This fine, powder-like substance is a danger to all who are close enough to breathe it in.
This dust is produced from cutting a windshield or the rear window on a vehicle. We need to take the steps to protect the occupants from this dust as well as ourselves. For the occupants, we can drape a blanket or medical sheet over them, which will filter out the dust.
Firefighters can wear an N-95 mask. This also an option for the occupants if firefighters can get a mask on them. Firefighters can store N-95s in the inside of their helmets so that when they need one, they will have quickly to don as opposed to going back to the truck and then returning to the vehicle.
