BROOKLYN, N.Y. — According to police, a man left a gun in a box outside a Brooklyn fire station late Sunday and claimed it could be a bomb, leading to a major police response.
The unidentified man walked up to FDNY Engine 290 around 6:50 p.m., left the box on the ground outside, and said to people nearby “I think this is a bomb,” The New York Post reported.
The NYPD’s Bomb Squad responded and determined there was no bomb but there was a gun in the box.
The man has not been found.
