The Firefighter Safety Stand Down occurs annually in the third full week of June, emphasizing crucial safety, health and survival topics for fire and emergency services personnel. Departments are urged to halt non-emergency activities to focus on safety and health education.

This year’s theme, “Fire Training: Back to Basics,” focused on building the foundation of a training program, assessing the needs of the community and department, safety during training, and physical and behavioral/mental health considerations.
