DANVILLE, Pa. — A longtime Danville Fire Police officer has died while working a school event, according to a social media post by the department.

Danville Fire Police Officer Robert “Bob” Myers, Sr., 95, had been working a trunk-or-treat event on Oct. 22 at Danville Primary School when he was discovered unresponsive after failing to return from a break, WOLF reported.

Despite efforts from first responders and bystanders to revive him, Myers did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The department stated that Myers had served as the past president of the Goodwill Hose Company and had been a member of the Fire Police since 1975, contributing 49 years of service.

“Bob could be seen at calls in his younger years and more recently in fact up until the time of his death, continued to help with events with the school district, boro of Danville and where he could,” the department said.
