La. FF dies after tire explodes during vehicle maintenance

BOSSIER PARISH, La. — Firefighter Jessie Henry, 28, with South Bossier Fire District 2 Station No. 4, died over the weekend following an on-duty accident involving vehicle maintenance, KSLA reported.

Henry was working on a firetruck tire at about 9 a.m. Saturday when it exploded. Family members said they were told that a tire sensor hit him in the head.

Henry served with the department for four years, was a mixed martial arts fighter and had a nonprofit that paired students with mentors. Earlier in his life, he served in the U.S. Army, and he was active in the Army Reserves.

Henry is survived by his daughter, who is 9.
