Miss. firefighter extricated from fire engine rollover

The Wiggins fire engine overturned while responding to an MVC

WIGGINS, Miss. — A firefighter from the Wiggins Fire Department has been hospitalized after being trapped in a fire engine crash.

According to a social media post from the fire department, the engine was responding to a motor vehicle collision on May 18 when the crash occurred.

The fire engine rolled over several times, trapping the firefighter’s legs between the vehicle and the roadway when it finally came to a stop, WLOX reported.

The injured firefighter was extricated from the fire engine and then flown to a nearby hospital. The firefighter has since been discharged.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
