Driver killed after crashing into Ohio fire engine, FF hospitalized

A crash involving a Columbus fire engine left a driver dead and a FF injured after being bitten by a dog

COLUMBUS, Ohio — One person was killed and a firefighter was injured after a pickup truck crashed into the rear of a Columbus fire engine while on the scene of a separate crash on July 23.

Timothy Wiggins, of Delaware, was killed when the truck he was driving crashed into the rear of the fire engine on Interstate 270 near Hamilton Road, WBNS reported.

A passenger in the truck was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and transported to Mount Carmel East Hospital.

A firefighter who was attending to one of the victims in the crash was bitten by a dog. The firefighter was transported to Mount Carmel East Hospital and is listed in stable condition.
