MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The search is on again for the nation’s best firehouse chili.

The International Chili Society (ICS) is seeking competitors for its Second Annual Firehouse Chili Challenge, which will be held in Myrtle Beach as part of the 55th Annual World Championship Chili Cook-off (WCCC) in September.

“In addition to discovering and celebrating some of the best, under-appreciated cooks in America, this special event will allow us and chili lovers everywhere to honor and commemorate the many first responders and heroes who put their lives on the line to keep Americans safe,” noted Mike McCloud, president and CEO of ICS.

The program is open to any firehouse cook or team.

The submission form will prompt entrants to upload a photo of their team, explain why they should be chosen as a Firehouse Chili Challenge finalist, and give a brief description of a charitable cause or organization that is important to them.

ICS and its Chili Congress, an ambassador council of past ICS champions, will select 10 official teams that will be announced throughout the chili competition season. The 10 teams will be invited to compete in the Firehouse Division at the 55th Annual WCCC, which will occur September 23-25 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. There, they will compete in a live People’s Choice Challenge. In addition to the public voting, an official panel of past World Champions will choose the overall Firehouse team winner. A portion of the proceeds raised will go to the winners’ charities of choice.

ICS will accept submissions through August 31, 2022. Submissions can be entered here.
