JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man whose leg was pinned in the propeller of a boat on the Trout River was rescued Saturday morning by Jacksonville firefighters.

The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries resulting from the mishap in the river near Tamarack Street on the city’s Northside, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.

The man managed to keep his head above the surface as he tread water while trying to free himself.

Members of JFRD’s Technical Rescue Team worked underwater to remove the propeller and free the man’s leg, department officials said.

JFRD reported the incident on Twitter at 6:28 a.m. Information revealing the circumstances of the mishap were not available.
