PRESS RELEASE
DENVER — The Colorado Division of Fire Prevention & Control (DFPC), in a concerted effort to bolster its capacity in supporting local partners during fire investigations and to enhance community awareness of fire risks, has unveiled a fleet of state-of-the-art trailers dedicated to fire safety education and investigation efforts.
The announcement was made by Chris Brunette, the Fire and Life Safety Section Chief at the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC). Chief Brunette expressed gratitude to Senators Cutter and Genal for their sponsorship of SB 23-013, which played a crucial role in securing the investigation’s trailers. He also acknowledged the instrumental role played by the Colorado Fire Commission in developing recommendation 21-04 to support the Statewide Risk Reduction Initiative, Fire Safe Colorado, which included the idea of placing a fire safety education trailer in each quadrant of the state.
The initiative includes the strategic deployment of an investigation trailer on each side of the continental divide, ensuring comprehensive coverage across the state. These trailers, equipped with advanced resources, will be utilized by DFPC teams during fire investigations. Importantly, they will also be made available for use by local jurisdictions, providing crucial support when needed and available.
In addition to the investigation trailers, the state has introduced four education trailers, strategically located in each quadrant. These trailers will be managed by the Community Risk Reduction (CRR) Specialist in each quadrant. Local jurisdictions will have the opportunity to request these trailers for community events or use them in area schools to educate community members on the importance of fire safety.
“This initiative represents a significant step forward in enhancing our state’s ability to address fire-related challenges. We are deeply thankful to Senators Cutter and Genal for their sponsorship and the Colorado Fire Commission for their valuable recommendations,” said Chris Brunette.
The introduction of these trailers aligns with the broader mission of the State of Colorado to actively engage in community risk reduction efforts and promote a culture of fire safety. The initiative, known as Fire Safe Colorado, aims to empower communities with the knowledge and resources necessary to mitigate fire risks effectively.
