HOUSTON — Houston firefighters returned this morning to douse embers at a charred southeast Houston home where two of their brethren died in a blaze early Sunday.

An engine crew from nearby Houston Fire Department Station 36 was dispatched to check on smoke coming from the partially burned home in the 7800 block of Oak Vista after 9:30 a.m. A neighbor had called 911 about it.

When they arrived, the firefighters found a stack of tightly packed magazines smoldering in the ruined house and the crew poured water on the paper and in other areas that could flare up to make everything was extinguished.
