White Paper: Detecting explosives, narcotics, and hazardous materials through sealed containers

Agilent Resolve can accurately identify chemicals and mixtures through opaque containers

When you’re dealing with hazardous materials, there’s no margin for error.

The Agilent Resolve handheld system can accurately identify chemicals and mixtures through sealed opaque containers, reducing the risks involved and improving operational efficiency.

Conventional handheld Raman systems are typically limited to operating through clear plastic bags or glass vials. If the materials are concealed behind thicker, colored, or opaque barriers, it may be necessary to open and take a sample - which poses a potential risk to the operator as well as the integrity of a crime scene.

The Resolve system’s through-barrier capability removes the need for response teams to open containers, which allows information about the situation to be gathered quickly and efficiently. Other features include:

  • Identification through opaque and colored plastics, dark glass, paper, and fabric
  • No need to open or disturb suspect objects
  • No risk of exposure to hazardous narcotics like fentanyl
  • Explosion risks are significantly reduced through unique laser technology
