NEW LENOX, Ill. — New Lenox firefighters on Sunday dedicated a stunning new memorial to honor their fallen colleagues and all who continue to risk their lives to “answer the call” when others need help.
The memorial was dedicated on a sunny afternoon in a solemn and emotional ceremony that recalled the lives and loss of New Lenox Firefighter Ken Sobbe, Captain Wallace Faulk and Firefighter/Engineer Michael Palumbo, who perished in the line of duty.
Long discussed, the memorial took shape a few years ago after “an impassioned plea” by New Lenox Firefighter Larry Nicholson.
