BURLESON, Texas — Members of the Burleson Fire Department visited 12 elementary schools located in the city limits and distributed goody bags with drowning prevention material to all kindergarten, first and second grade students.
The department collaborated with the city’s drowning coalition for the event, named “April Pool’s Day,” as it purposely coincided with the traditional April Fool’s Day holiday.
The April Pool’s Day kits “contain a ‘Lifeguard me around water’ bracelet, a water watcher tag for parents, drowning prevention information, a Water Safety Club business card encouraging parents/guardians to enroll their kids and a ‘Stewie the Duck Learns to Swim’ book.”
