INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — An Indianapolis firefighter who was critically injured while battling an arson fire last week has been released from IU Health Methodist Hospital, IFD officials said.
Private Chris McGrone was hospitalized and listed in critical condition last week after his facemask broke during a fire at a vacant house.
According to a press released published by IFD Tuesday, McGrone said that his regulator became disengaged from his face piece during the fire. A Significant Incident Investigation Team (SIIT) is reviewing the case.
IFD officials said it may take several weeks before the results of that investigation are available.
Anyone with information about the Aug. 16 fire which injured McGrone is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS. An award of up to $1,000 is possible for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in the arson. Calls may be made anonymously.
