Monroe, NC — Scott Safety is pleased to announce the introduction of the AV-3000 HT Facepiece. Designed to meet the challenging requirements of NFPA 1981, 2013 edition, the facepiece combines the industry-leading AV-3000 SureSeal platform with next-generation material technology and design to deliver enhanced thermal durability and improved voice intelligibility.
The new AV-3000 HT facepiece utilizes the proven SureSeal technology, Scott Safety’s reverse-reflex sealing surface. The U-Shape of the reverse-reflex seal maintains a continuous circumferential seal around the user’s face, enabling the facepiece to flex with every move to provide greater comfort and reliable fit. The AV-3000 HT utilizes state-of-the-art lens material technology to provide enhanced thermal durability and performance.
“Our SureSeal system incorporates the most technologically advanced face-seal design in the industry to help ensure a good user experience with comfort and fit,” said Karen Kaufeld, APR Product Line Manager for Scott Safety. “The HT facepiece features the best of our AV-3000 series, while also meeting the requirements set forth in the 2013 edition of the NFPA 1981 standard for high heat and flame and radiant heat.”
The AV-3000 HT is designed to meet the requirements of the 2013 standard which includes new performance requirements for high heat and flame, radiant heat and voice intelligibility. There are two voice intelligibility requirements: one for mechanical communication and another for electronic, or amplified, communications. The AV-3000 HT exceeds the mechanical measurement requirement outlined in the standard through redesign of the ducts and voicemitter location. With dual voicemitters, the facepiece communication is optimized to those around the wearer, not just the individuals directly in front of the user. Lastly, the AV-3000 HT also enables right or left side mounting of Scott’s EPIC 3 voice amplifiers to enable users to select the side they prefer.
The AV-3000 HT is designed to offer Scott Safety’s exclusive Top-Down Convertibility, meaning firefighters can use a single facepiece, with a single fit-test, for all of their NFPA / CBRN / NIOSH respiratory applications. Once approved with other Scott respirators, the AV-3000 HT with Top-Down Convertibility will reduce fit testing, training, and inventory for overall lower cost of ownership.
Finally, the AV-3000 HT will be approved with the 2013 Ed. SCBA’s as well as all 2002 and 2007 Edition Scott Safety AP Fifty, AP75, NxG2 and NxG7 SCBA to provide an upgrade path to current users of these Air-Pak SCBAs. Current 2002 and 2007 users can utilize the AV-3000HT with either the EPIC or EPIC 3 voice amplification products, or with mechanical communications only.
