Global Traffic Technologies to Showcase Opticom Priority Control Solutions at FRI 2010

Booth #2809 at FRI 2010 Highlights Interoperability of Global Traffic Technologies’ Opticom™ Priority Control Solutions, New Products

St. Paul, Minn. - Global Traffic Technologies (GTT) will showcase its latest innovations in Opticom™ Priority Control Solutions for emergency vehicle preemption technology at FRI 2010. Benefits for fire and emergency-service agencies include enhanced multi-agency cooperation, improved evacuation logistics, greater return on investment, reduced response time and increased safety.

Providing Centralized Support. Through continuing innovation, Opticom™ Central Management Software is strengthening its position as an invaluable back office support tool. This software is a scalable solution that centralizes priority control and offers sophisticated oversight and reporting capabilities to improve system performance, support inter-agency cooperation, validate return on investment and streamline maintenance.

Facilitating Coordinated Evacuations. To coordinate with community-wide preparedness efforts, the new Evacuation Planning module for Opticom™ Central Management Software enables rapid evacuations. In crisis or special-event situations, transit vehicles are allowed to temporarily preempt signals while maintaining precedence of emergency vehicles.

Enabling Mutual/Automatic Aid. GTT now enables seamless, inter-agency operability and cooperation through new Multimode Technology capabilities for Opticom priority control systems. Supporting infrared, GPS and future activation technologies, the multimode functionality adapts to each community’s unique traffic infrastructure, providing cost-effective migration and backward compatibility.

Obtaining Signal Preemption. For situations where firehouses are located very near signalized intersections, the new Opticom™ GPS Radio Base Station is a wireless solution that rapidly obtains signal preemption, ensuring the fastest possible response time.

Highlighting LED Technology. During FRI exhibit hours, visitors to GTT’s booth can register to win an Opticom system LED Emitter and remote coding unit. Using up to 90 percent less power than previous strobe emitters, this LED emitter frees up on-board power and offers greater longevity. The coding unit simplifies emitter coding by providing the ability to change settings or codes remotely.
