APPLETON, Wis. — Pierce Manufacturing demonstrated the Situational Awareness System by Fotokite at the Fire-Rescue International conference in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Situational Awareness System is a self-piloting, actively-tethered aerial device that can be deployed from any apparatus currently in use, providing fire departments an immediate integration without the need for additional technology.

The Pierce Manufacturing SAS provides firefighters aerial and thermal imagery for detailed information about a fire, and can be hard-wired into the vehicle system, eliminating the need for a piloting license or certificate of authorization, as well as concerns about battery life.

“Apparatus and technology innovations have been monumental for our organization in recent years as we’ve addressed voice of customer feedback to set benchmarks for performance in the industry,” Jim Johnson, president of Pierce Manufacturing, said in a press release. “Not only do those who work in the fire service deserve the best apparatus to serve their communities, our team is committed to providing premier products and services that support the critical work of these dedicated men and women.”
