FireRescue1 Executive Editor Chief Marc Bashoor speaks with Hank Clemmensen, past president, IAFC, and FirstNet consultant, about what fire chiefs need to know about FirstNet and how to get where they need to be to onboard.

Clemmensen tells Bashoor about how IAFC and public safety organizations lobbied Congress after the communication failures involved in 9/11 to make improvements that would provide public safety professionals with a “dependable and reliable” spectrum. These efforts led to the creation of FirstNet in 2012, which is now available to help the fire service solve its unique challenges.
