AED with built-in connectivity gets FDA approval

SAN FRANCISCO — Avive Solutions received FDA pre-market approval this week for its Avive AED.

According to a news release, the healthcare technology company’s device features:

  • Cellular, WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth connectivity designed to connect with 911 call centers and transfer incident data to dispatchers and EMS providers
  • A button that toggles between adult mode and child mode
  • A button that gives instructions in Spanish
  • A rechargeable battery designed to last longer than 8 months

The AED is available for preorder. The company said that fire departments, police departments, businesses, municipalities and others are on the waitlist, which is accepting further entries. New orders are expected to be shipped over the summer.
