EMINENCE, Mo. — The Eminence Area Volunteer Fire Department is raising funds after a fire destroyed its firehouse and equipment.
The fire happened early in the morning on March 5. According to Shannon County First Responders, the firehouse is a total loss.
Fire Chief Jim Bay told KOLR the department received a call that the firehouse was on fire. A firefighter who responded to the scene told KOLR that he felt helpless not being able to save the fire station because all of his equipment was inside.
Fire departments from Winona, Ellington, Summersville, Thayer and Timber assisted the Eminence Area Volunteer Fire Department in extinguishing the flames.
The department lost all seven of its fire trucks and nearly all of the equipment inside, Bay said.
A fundraiser has been set up to help the department recoup its losses. To donate, click here.
