WASHINGTON — FEMA is accepting applications for all three of the Assistance to Firefighters Grants programs for fiscal year 2021, with available grant awards totaling more than $1 billion.

AFG: The application period for the Assistance to Firefighters Grants ($414 million) closes on Friday, Jan. 21 at 5 p.m. ET. These grants focus on enhancing the public’s safety and firefighters concerning fire and fire-related hazards.

SAFER: The application period for the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grants ($560 million) closes on Feb. 4 at 5 p.m. ET. SAFER grants focus on improving the capability of recipients to attain and maintain fire department staffing and to assure that their communities have adequate protection.

- FP&S: The application period is for the Fire Protection and Safety (FP&S) grants ($46 million) will close on Feb. 18 at 5 p.m. The FP&S grants focus on enhancing the safety of the public and firefighters.
