COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A man on an apparently random stabbing spree wounded eight people in Colorado Springs overnight and was apprehended with help from victims and medical responders, police say.
The suspect, who was not identified, reportedly stabbed multiple people in different locations in the city’s downtown area within a 30-minute time span Monday morning, according to KKTV 11 News.
“As we proceeded along the trail, we found several other people that the suspect came in contact with and had also assaulted. We ended up getting another call for service or several other calls for service with regards to injured victims,” said Colorado Springs Police Department Sgt. Shawn Peterson.
Fire and EMS personnel arrived to aid the victims, some of whom were able to convey information about their assailant to the first responders.
“I’d really like to thank all the public for assisting us in help catching him, along with medical and FD,” Peterson said. “Their quick response really helped these victims and also helped police try to locate the suspect.”
Police arrested the man, who they believed was working alone. All eight victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
