TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas — The chief of an emergency services district has resigned under pressure amid questions about his employment of two daughters and his future son-in-law.
The KVUE Defenders and the Austin American-Statesman revealed the arrangement in a report last month.
The five-member board that oversees the district met in a special meeting Monday to accept the resignation of ESD No. 4 Chief Flo Soliz. In a one-page letter, Soliz said he wished to leave Jan. 23 in order to fill his contractual term. The board, however, made Monday his last day.
