MYTON, Utah — The city’s former fire chief and his wife have pleaded guilty to charges that were filed after prosecutors said the couple used public funds to buy fuel for their private vehicles.

Aaron Dwane Davis pleaded guilty late last month in 8th District Court to misusing public money, a third-degree felony, court records show. His wife, Shelby Lee Davis, had already pleaded guilty in March to theft, a class B misdemeanor.

Aaron Davis, 30, used the city’s charge account at a local gas station over the course of at least two years to buy about $1,400 in fuel for his personal vehicle, according to Duchesne County prosecutors. Shelby Davis, 22, also used the city’s charge account, racking up less than $500 in unauthorized purchases, prosecutors said.
