ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A massive, six-alarm fire tore through an Alexandria warehouse Monday afternoon, sending a thick plume of smoke into the sky that was visible for miles.
Firefighters from multiple agencies and from as far away as Prince George’s County came in to battle the huge blaze, which broke out early Monday afternoon on Pickett Street just west of Van Dorn Street.
The blaze quickly filled a warehouse on South Pickett Street used by construction and recycling companies. Within minutes, plumes of smoke could be seen from Maryland, D.C., and throughout northern Virginia.
